Katra, Oct 19: Just because the elections are coming close, several leaders and politicians have opened their cards by starting works on a smaller scale in their constituency only to gain attraction of the people. Such acts of the politicians is mere an eyewash to fill up their vote banks. It was noticed in holy town Katra, where the roads are getting repaired after a decade on the election season. Reliable sources rued with Early Times that as the elections are about to be announced, many smaller works that were pending from past some years are getting completed. The works like the repairing of roads from Nomain to Katra and many of the link roads are under completion. Sources also said that from the past many years, the road from Nomain to Katra Town would not get repaired on the whole but this election season, the politicians pressurized the administration and the road got some patches repaired to add the credit to their Vote Bank. The sources also said the condition of road from Katra to Reasi is also worst, but the leaders used to give excuses only saying, "the road is under BRO and they will perform their duty in their own time". Some localists said that it will take half an hour to reach Domel from Jammu, which is about 30 kilometers from Jammu, but it will take more half to reach Katra from Domel (a distance of 15 kilometers only) owing to the condition of roads. The sources also said that the from many past years, it is in the history of Reasi constituency that , only candidates from Katra got success in the Elections and the present MLA also belong to Katra and "it is his failure that he is not able to get works done in his constituency, but now as the elections are nearer, the administration got aware to do the works… How pitiable?", they added. Anil Waswani, a tourist when contacted by Early Times said that the condition of road is very pathetic Katra. He also said , "Vaishnodevi is the most popular Holy station of Katra and almost each and every person from all world came here", he again added saying, " Katra Vaishnodevi is one of the source of income for the whole state of Jammu and Kashmir, but the condition of the whole town is very pathetic regarding arrangements, drainage, roads, cleanliness etc". Several attempts to contact Baldev Raj Sharma, MLA Reasi constituency went in vain as he was not available to take call. |
