JKPCC appreciates Cabinet decision on one time settlement of refugees 10/19/2014 10:58:05 PM Early Times Report Kathua, Oct 19: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee has appreciated the cabinet decision of his government for one time rehabilitation package for displaced persons from Pakistan Occupied Kashmir and Chamb sector. While addressing the press conference, Manohar Singh said that the credit goes to Congress as Congress was raising demand and struggling for the settlement of PoK, Chhamb and West Pakistan Refugees. He further added that as per news papers when the rehabilitation package for one time full and final settlement of the claims of PoK and Chhamb Displaced Persons came up for consideration in the Cabinet, a senior National Conference Minister tried to scuttle the move by stressing that more serious discussions should be held before giving nod to the package. Manohar Singh further said that presently Cabinet has sent proposal to the Government of India for providing funds to the tune of Rupees 9096 Crore for payment of compensation as one time settlement in favor of 36384 PoK/Chhamb families at the rate of Rupees 25 lakh per family. There should be no delay in distributing the fund and government should follow a simple system so that these people do not suffer more", Singh added. He also appealed state government to redress the hardships of West Pakistan Refugees' on the same track.
