Kargil without electricity for a week

Kargil, Oct 19: Power has been disrupted in Kargil for last one week, due to technical snag at Chutuk Hydle Power Station.
The power station is not generating power as all the four turbines of the project have damaged.
The Chief Engineer Chutuk Hydle Project Biswas Basu told the reporters that the turbines in the Project are called Francis Type Turbine which needs 70% of the total load and in Kargil during summer the load was 2-3% it was the reason beyond the damage. He further told that NHPC has procured the damaged parts from Bhopal and would be airlifted to Leh, power supply be restored in next 10 days. Meanwhile Engineer Wajahat In-charge Executive Engineer Electric Maintenance department Kargil told that the department is supplying power in the on two hours curtailment basis from 6 to 10 pm, even though there is more than seven megawatt load during Peak Hours.
