Heavey rush on Mughal Road endangers human life | People demand alternate route from Pampore to Shopian | | Javaid Naikoo
Srinagar, Oct 19 : As thousands of vehicles ply on Historical Mughal road daily these days following the one way traffic on Srinagar-Jammu highway is risking lives of people travelling and living adjacent to road due to heavy vehicular moment. People living in main town of South Kashmir's District Shopian, people of Pulwama and Pampore while talking to early times said that haphazard and heavy moment of traffic on Mughal road has made their lives hell and there remains a chance of threat to lives of children, aged men and woman who walk on this road as the main road from Shopian to Pampore which connects Mughal road with rest of Kashmir is narrow and not fit for extraordinary vehicular movement. "We fear to walk on this road, this road from Shopian to Galendar nearPampore is age old and not in a position to bear the rush of extraordinary vehicular moment which is on these days on Mughal road, government should immediately start widening of this road, they should also look for an alternative road from Shopian to Pampore which could connect Mughal road with rest of Kashmir," said one local Muhammad Maqbool of Shopian. People of Pulwama who are also fed up these days due to heavy vehicular moment on main road from Pulwama to Shopian leading to Mughal road said that school children always remain under tremendous danger due to heavy movement of traffic. "Dozens of other link roads connecting with main road from Shopian to Pulwama at many places are also unsafe, local and passenger vehicles besides people need to cross towards other side of the road and ongoing haphazard moment of traffic on this road has only added worries for people living adjacent and travelling on this road. "Said another local Nasim Mohi-ud-din of Pulwama Residents of Shopian and Pulwama demand that government should immediately start widening of main road from shopian to Pulwama connecting Mughal road with rest of Kashmir particularly with Srinagar under any centrally sponsored scheme like PMGSY and the construction work of the road should be given to any company like Hindustan construction company (HCC) or Economic reconstruction agency (ERA) so that work could be completed in a time bound manner, besides they also demand that government must also look for an alternative road from Shopian to Pampore via Pulwama to avoid routine traffic Jamming in the area. Meanwhile despite repeated attempts no contact could be made with Minister for roads and Buildings, Abdul Majeed Wani due to poor mobile phone connectivity. |
