Gandhi Nagar hospital to have all modern Medicare facilities: Bhalla

Jammu, Oct 20: Minister for Housing, Horticulture, Culture, Youth Services and Sports Raman Bhalla, today said that the Gandhi Nagar hospital is being equipped with all advance Medicare facilities to cater to the increasing rush of patients and reduce pressure on Government Medical College Hospital (GMCH) and Shri Maharaja Gulab Singh Hospital (SMGSH).
The Minister was speaking while chairing a meeting of the Rogi Kalyan Samiti (RKS) of Gandhi Nagar hospital here this morning. Medical Superintendent Dr. M Younis Choudhary (Member Secretary RKY) Deputy Director Information (PR) Afshan Masood, besides other members of RKY were present in the meeting.
The Minister said that the efforts are on to upgrade the facilities in Govt Hospital Gandhi Nagar at par with premier hospitals to cater to increasing rush and reduce rush on GMC&H and SMGSH. Equipped with modern facilities, the hospital is catering all type of patients, including Gynaecology, he added.
Bhalla asked the hospital authorities to maintain hygienic environment in the hospital. He said Government has released Rs. 80 lakh for installation of digital X-ray machine and asked authorities to take necessary steps in making the machine operational at the earliest. Taking review of the ongoing developmental works in the hospital, the Minister asked the management of the hospital to go for face lifting of old hospital building besides repairing street lights installed in the premises, adding that Government has released Rs. 10 lakh for the purpose.
Bhalla asked the concerned to prepare estimate for installing the air-conditioners in Gynaecology ward and newly constructed Dialysis wards so that the patient do not face inconvenience during summer.
The Minister asked the hospital authorities to upgrade the medical facilities in existing laboratory, radiology section, emergency ward, gynae ward and neuro surgical theatre.
Bhalla asked the PDD to upgrade the existing installed transformers to ensure improved power supply to the hospital. He was told that a detailed project report of Rs. 1.09 crore has been prepared for ensuring uninterrupted power supply to the hospital.
The Minister asked the medical and para-medical staff to work with dedication and provide best medicare facilities to patients coming for treatment.
Earlier, Bhalla inspected the ongoing works of 200-beded maternity hospital coming up at a cost of Rs. 70 crore at the available site near OPD block at Gandhi Nagar hospital. He asked executing agency to speed up work and ensure that hospital was ready in scheduled time. He was told that every effort was being made to complete and dedicate the hospital to the people by December 2014. Later, the Minister also inaugurated examination hall at Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Gandhi Nagar.
