| `Nothing extra-ordinary in its performance so far' | | BJP is not unstoppable: Omar | | Javaid Naikoo
srinagar, Oct 21: While rejecting the recent statements of some Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders about their victory in forthcoming assembly polls, the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah today said that BJP is not unstoppable and neither has he seen anything extraordinary in their overall performance so far.
Talking to reporters on the sidelines of a police function here today, Omar said that he disagrees with some recently appeared statements in the political spectrum that BJP would turn victorious in assembly elections as he personally does not consider BJP any unstoppable entity.
He said that despite tremendous performance of BJP during Parliamentary elections across the country, it was not able to repeat its performance in Maharashtra and Haryana state elections, therefore nothing can be termed as extraordinary from BJP so far.
He said that 'it would be an exaggeration to say the BJP march to victory in elections is unstoppable and added that despite the fact that BJP done well, but not that well as they expected and while quoting some examples in this regard he said that in Haryana, they have just about crossed the half-way mark and in Maharashtra, they were expecting to form the government on their own, but now they have to eat a humble pie and go back to their old ally to form the government there as well.
Pertinently the statement of Omar Abdullah came at a time when many leaders of BJP in Jammu and Kashmir and from other parts of the country as well very recently claimed to form government in Jammu and Kashmir and challenged that regional party of Jammu and Kashmir including National Conference will have to just wait and watch the way BJP would form next government in the state after registering overwhelming victory in the upcoming state assembly polls. |
