Jammu, Oct 21: Former Member Parliament and senior Congress leader Madan Lal Sharma while launching a scathing attack on the state Congress' 'manipulative' exercise on ticket distributions being made by the leaders of two factions in the state has said that the party would head towards another spoilsport if such exercise continued .
Taking a veiled dig at JKPCC chief Saif-ud-Din Soz and former Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad heading the split faction of the Congress taking charge of ticket distribution allegedly to the corrupt and failed people in the state, Madan Lal Sharma said that already enough damage has been done in various segments by "two bigwigs" who again have embarked upon corrupt practice of promoting the dishonest person for ticket sharing for the forthcoming elections.
"It is some honest people in the party upon which the entire weight of the party is pivoted that has done great good things but are being sidelined by the two stalwarts who are busy promoting the self-centered and corrupt faces of the Party while giving mandate to them," said Madan Lal Sharma while talking to Early Times.
He was quite open in questioning the credentials of the two for acting as self-authorised in giving the mandate to their own men while neglecting the ground level workers and activists whom he termed as the real face of the party.
He said that the coalition has taken land mark decisions, but the corrupt conviction of some of the politicians is giving a wrong message to the people as such it is mandatory on the part of the Party to reject such faces and give mandate to those on whom the communities have faith and can perform good on ground.
When asked that such issue should be brought in the knowledge of High Command and the Congress Parliamentary Board , Madan Lal Sharma said that he has given enough hints in this regard and would see that the wrongdoings in the party could be rectified .
"How come Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi or Ambika Soni may know the ground situation in Jammu and Kashmir until they are not sounded by the party people in this regard. It is not only Azad or Soz who are the mentors of the party as they keep on settling their own scores while party suffers," said the MP.
He was of the firm opinion that he would take up the issue at the national level so that parliamentary board and the High Command may come to know about the ground situation in Jammu and Kashmir and take a clinical interest in the affairs of the state before the tickets are distributed to the actual prospective candidates and corrupt are thrown out.
He said that Party should take feedback from the ground before deciding on mandates so that people who are busy in spooning and those who have no relevance are shown the doors. Sharma appealed the Congress high command, JKPCC President and leader of opposition in Rajya Sabha to involve more people who know the grass root situation in ticket distribution, so that it remain a realistic and fruitful exercise.
He said that despite strengthening Jammu a permanent mechanism is required so that people of Jammu are never cheated.
