Musharraf succeeds to incite Geelani | Dirty Politics! | | Hurriyat hawk calls for shutdown on Modi's visit, forgets miseries of flood hit people Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 22: The Hurriyat hawk Syed Ali Shah Geelani seems to be the first person in Kashmir who has followed the advice of the ousted Pakistan President General Parvez Musharraf to "foment trouble" in the flood ravaged Valley. To begin with Geelani has called for a shutdown in Kashmir against the decision of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to spend Diwali in the Valley. Geelani by calling for a shutdown on Diwali day has not only hurt the sentiments of the members of the minority community putting up in Kashmir but has also tried to pit the people of Kashmir against New Delhi, which is planning to announce a huge financial package for the flood victims. Its strange that on one hand Geelani is demanding that flood hit people should be compensated, while as on the other hand he has called for a shutdown on Prime Minister's visit. He (Geelani) doesn't mind getting money from Centre and spending it but he cannot tolerate the head of the Indian state visiting Kashmir. What an irony! Pertinently, since the day floods hit Kashmir on September 7 last month, Geelani has not been able to call for a shutdown nor have his aides been able to orchestrate any street protest. It seems he is "under pressure" from his bosses sitting on the other side of the Line of Control (LoC) to "perform or perish." Musharraf during an interview with a Pakistani news channel last week had minced no words to claim that their sources are present in Kashmir and they just need to be incited. Geelani has followed his advice and has made an attempt to ensure that his bosses on the other side remain happy by him calling for a shutdown on Modi's visit. The September 7 floods devastated Kashmir's business hub Lal Chowk and its adjoining areas most of the shops are still closed as traders are calculating their losses. Traders who have suffered losses in crores are hoping that Prime Minister would come to their rescue and would announce a financial package for them to restart their businesses. Geelani by calling for a shutdown on PM's visit wants to push these needy people away from the mainstream so that he can later claim that New Delhi did nothing for Kashmiris. Geelani seems to have forgotten that when floods inundated Kashmir the jawans of Indian Army, NDRF and Indian Air Force put their lives at stake and pulled out thousands of marooned people from their homes. Provided them food and shelter. Even the cadres of his party were pulled out by the Army jawans. The Hurriyat hawk has once again proved that people are not at all important for him. His only job is to appease his bosses sitting across LoC and to ensure that life in the Valley remains disturbed. Talking to Early Time the BJP spokesman Khalid Jehangir said, "The people who have called for a shutdown on Modi's visit are trying to befool people. Shutdowns and hartals have not served any purpose during the past 22-years. These have only added to the miseries of the masses." He said the flood victims need solace and all possible help and shutdown definitely won't help their cause. "Prime Minister is committed to help the flood affected people and separatists by giving such calls are trying to create a wedge between the masses and the Centre. |
