How close is Omar to PM? 10/24/2014 11:24:24 PM Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 24: About to complete his term, Omar Abdullah is now trying to get close to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Omar who had for political considerations publicly displayed difference to the PM, had a day before the visit of Modi, decided to clean the Srinagar city as part of Swaach Bharat programme. The CM didn't utter a single word about this programme for about a month and also didn't take this forward in this State. J&K was probably the only state where this programme was not carried forward by the official machinery, despite the fact that it was needed most here especially in the Srinagar, where garbage and filth was flying all around. Omar was successful with his political gimmick as he evoked appreciation from Modi. He even appreciated the visit of the PM at his favourite private channel. The CM was much cheerful and smiling on receiving the PM unlike in the past, when he arrived in Srinagar. CM who clears pictures to be released by the information was more than forthcoming to give approval for releasing the picture where he PM is seen speaking something in the ears of the CM. Omar with this picture was trying to send the message that he is close to the PM and he is getting his trust. It is being done with an eye on the election. The CM knows that it is the PM who will take final call on the timing of the elections and also how they are to be held. Omar knows that his political career now depends on the course of action to be taken by the Modi. "He has been in the NDA government and it will not be surprising he jumps into the Modi boat this time, as many Modi-baiters like Omar had done," said an official. However, the point Omar is missing is that Modi doesn't speak out his heart when he is either seen being close to you or give you more than full attention in the public. "The fact is that once a person had fallen with the Modi, there are no chances he will be close to him again.
