Divya Manhas death mystery: Inter-state drug supplier (Chachu) among 3 arrested
2 former ministers pressurize police for safe passage to drug supplier

Jammu, Oct 24: Divya Manhas of Marbel Market, Channi, who died last week, purportedly due to overdose of drugs, set the stage for Police to arrest the inter-state drug supplier from Damtal (place situated on Punjab and Himachal border) and on his disclosure, Police prepared a list of 50 Jammu based youth who are his customers.
Police laid hand on big fish on the disclosure of the two youth arrested by Channi Police. They were among the 32 persons who were zeroed in by the police after going through the Call Detail Record (CDR) of the deceased girl. They have been identified as Vishal and Vikram Singh alias Rubal of Tallab Tillo. The duo has been booked u/s 302,120 B RPC by Channi Himmat Police.
The duo, who happens to be her friends, took the girl to a party where they injected narcotic substance into her vein and overdose later claimed her life. The duo during questioning told police.
SSP Jammu Uttam Chand when contacted admitted that police had cracked the death mystery of Divya, but he refused to divulge details quoting legal formalities.
Meanwhile, highly placed sources identified the drug supplier as Yash, popularly known as Chachu in drug market, adding, his arrest also unmasked some big fishes in Jammu who are his customers including a Secretary and a Tehsildar in state government. Besides, two ex Ministers in coalition government are also reportedly pressurizing police to grant safe passage to the 'Chachu' who was arrested by Jammu police braving several odds.
Sources further divulged that Chachu even offered Rs 25 lakh to the senior police officers for his safe passage. Later, during questioning, he informed police that he has strong network in northern states of the country and charged Rs 35000 for per gram of narcotics substance from his customers. The illegal business boomed him into a millionaire who owned fleet of luxurious vehicles.
The inter-state drug racket was busted by a police team led by SP South Rahul Malik, SDPO East Rafiq Manhas and SHO Channi Himmat Aejaz Ahmed Wani, under the supervision of SSP Jammu Uttam Chand.
Pertinently, Channi Police started investigation after the girl died few days ago, after she was shifted in serious condition to the Government Medical College, Jammu, for treatment by her family members. According to reports, the girl returned home late night after attending a party. Her condition suddenly got deteriorated around 2 a.m. and her family members shifted her to the GMC for treatment, where, she failed to respond to the treatment and breathed her last. The doctors attending the girl found some injection marks on her arms which suggest that she might have taken drugs and an overdose could be a reason for her death. The matter was informed to the police who rushed to the spot and took the body into its custody. The body after autopsy was handed over to the family members for last rites. A case in this regard stood registered with the police and further investigation was taken up.
