Connives with MD JK Cements to inaugurate Samba unit
Kitchloo ignores CM

Mohammad Mukaram
Srinagar, Oct 25: Ahead of the State Assembly elections and aimed rumors of enforcement of Model Code of Conduct in Jammu and Kashmir anytime the state's lonely owned cement factory JK cement's Managing Director Raskeh Sharma and State's Industries and Commerce Minister Sajad Kitchloo last week inaugurated the Samba unit of JK Cements in winter capital Jammu without informing the Chief Minister, official sources revealed.
According to insiders, the Samba unit was deliberately inaugurated without making it public in order to make some back door entries. "The only purpose of hidden inauguration was to recruit influential persons without any advertisement in the Samba unit," source said.
Top official sources revealed that the unit was still incomplete and the hasty inauguration did not make any sense. "A lot of electrical and mechanical work needs to be done still, " they said.
The MD Rakesh Sharma, sources said intends to earn hefty amounts as commission from contractors after releasing the funds to them. Pertinently the newly constructed 600 ton plant worth crores of rupees in Khrew which is running for last four years has not been commissioned formally yet by the State Government.
Meanwhile, according to sources, the MD Rakesh Sharma allegedly purchased 700 tons below grade coal worth Rs 1.50 crore, "As we fail to understand why the State Government is watching as mute spectator? Why Omar Abdullah is not showing any interest towards this Corporation? We think the policy of Government is disastrous for the Corporation which is now on the verge of end," Sources said.
Official sources added that though there is a Government rule that coal should be purchased through ECL, however the MD without following the coal procedure, ordered imported coal approximately worth Rs 20 crore, just because the lone motive of the MD was to earn commission from these suppliers. "MD has a close nexus with coal suppliers and shockingly he ordered the purchase of two Racks of South African low grade coal without proper tendering and managed to earn lacs of rupees from these suppliers,"
Sources said and added that though on papers he ordered two rakes of Indonesian coal which is considered a good quality coal but he purchased South African low grade coal and managed to earn again hefty money.
The employees of the JK Cements are worried about their bread and butter, they told to Early Times that if the situation continues as such the time is not far when this corporation will turn sick and die a silent death.
Sources said that due to the downfall in JK cements it was ensured that the person selected for the post of Managing Director had both the merit as well as experience for the job. The decision would always be taken by the State Cabinet after GAD would obtain Vigilance clearances but all that seems to have been thrown to winds by appointing the blue eyed non technical person in the corporation.
"If the Government is really interested and serious to save this company, there is an immediate need for it to revisit the corporation thoroughly and they should appoint the technical and experienced person as MD," sources said.
