Quarters position cleared in Inter-Varsity Badminton

JAMMU, Oct 29: Quarterfinals position has been cleared with the entry of teams in last eight stages of both men and women sections in the ongoing North Zone Inter-Varsity Badminton Tournament, organised by the University of Jammu under the banner of AIUs, here today.
The teams reaching the last four stages of women's category included hosts JU, PU Chandigarh, MDU Rohtak, PTU Jallandhar, AMU Aligarh, GNDU Amritsar, Punjabi University Patiala and University of Delhi.
Now, in the quarterfinals, scheduled for tomorrow, JU shall take on GNDU Amritsar while PU Chandigarh shall be playing against AMU Aligarh. Similarly, MDU Rohtak has been pitted against Punjabi University Patiala and PTU Jallandarh shall lock horns against University of Delhi.
The Results: Preliminary Round: PU Chandigarh bt Lucknow University Lucknow 2-0; University of Jammu bt Doon University Dehradun 2-0; MDU Rohtak bt LPU Phagwara 2-1; PTU Jallandhar bt HP University Shimla 2-0.
Meanwhile, in men's section, MDU Rohtak, Uttrakhand University Dehradun, Kurkshetra University, HP University Shimla, University of Delhi, GNDU Amritsar and PU Chandigarh have been placed in last eight stages.
Now, in the quarterfinals, to be played tomorrow, MDU Rohtak shall meet University of Delhi and Uttrakhand University shall face LPU Phagwara. In other quarterfinals, Kurkshetra University has been pitted against GNDU Amritsar while HP University shall take on PU Chandigarh.
The Results: Preliminary Round: MDU Rohtak bt CSJM Kanpur 3-0; Uttrakhand Technical University Dehradun bt GGSIP Delhi 3-2; Kurkshetra University bt Punjabi University Patiala 3-1; HP University Shimla bt Kumon University Nainital 3-0. Today's matches officiated by the technical penal comprising Krishan Gopal, TS Taneja, Shakeel Ahmed, Balbir Jamwal, Sunil Gurkha, Anil Gurkha, Dinesh Nanda and Jyoti Rajput.
