Police plans to fix miscreants ahead of 1st phase of polling | Assembly Elections | | Asif Iqbal Naik Kishtwar, Oct 29:- In order to conduct smooth, hassle free elections in the state, the Jammu and Kashmir police have decided to fix miscreants and trouble shooters including stone palters ahead of 1st phase of elections scheduled to be held in seven Districts of the state on November 25. As per the details available with "Early times", the District police of all the 22 Districts of the state has prepared lists of miscreants involved in anti national activities, stone pelting or any other crime and are potential threat to law and order during elections. Among these two Districts, the sources said that Leh and Kargil Districts of Ladakh Division stands at the bottom in terms of number while majority of the valley Districts have sizeable number of such elements, while in Jammu Division, Kishtwar District tops the list. The sources within the police department said that all these miscreants having criminal record have been categorized in different sections, according to their threat potential. Some of them shall be detained, while few will have to appear regularly before the SHO of nearest police station. The sources said that the concerned District Election Officers have given a go ahead to the police with regard to gagging of miscreants ahead of schedule polling. The sources said that the process will be started few days prior to the polling date in all 5 phases of the election. The sources said that in addition to miscreants, senior Huriyat leaders will be either booked or put under house detention before polling in their respective areas. Meanwhile Kishtwar police have also prepared the list of over 500 miscreants which include those who were involved in August 9 last year communal clashes presently on bail, beside all those involved in anti-India sloganeering on successive Eid day. The sources within the Kishtwar police while confirming the Action ahead of schedule polling date said that all the steps will be put into place for smooth conduct of Assembly Elections in the District. "Peace is the first priority-we have bought peace in Kishtwar District after sacrificing lot and we will not allow anyone to once again put the District on fire that too on the eve of elections" said a senior police officer wishing anonymity. Meanwhile Police have also issued directions to licensee weapon holders of the District to deposit their weapons at nearest police stations so that same could not be used to vitiate the peaceful atmosphere by using any such weapon. |
