GS Asgotra JAMMU, Oct 29: Anarchy prevailing in certain sections of the administration in University of Jammu has become a reason for harassment and embarrassment for the students who turn up for their important chores. The harassment of students can be easily witnessed in the Degree section, where they are being forced to submit their documents, time and again and even after the lapse of three to four months of submitting application forms along with all relevant documents, their hard earned degrees are not delivered to them. "Nearly three and half months back, I had applied for degree of Graduation. You can imagine the height of carelessness and nonsense that in the last three months, I had submitted marks-card of B.Sc Part-III thrice to an employee, sitting at the entrance. Twice, he exchanged phone numbers and also noted-down my name and confidently assured to get me my degree, next week, but three months and several visits later, didn't get my degree certificate", a student said. "Staff of Degree Section is giving priority to private college officials, probably due to fact that they grease their palms but a common student cannot", another student said, adding that majority of students were forced to submit documents, several times over. "The students are being asked to submit documents and forms, time and again, but same forms can be seen gathering dust on tables", he said. An official of Jammu University said that though there was dearth of staff in JU, but at the same time, the Degree section was totally casual in their approach. "The Degree form is available free of cost and after submission of same, a candidate has no record with him, so these employees ask for documents and forms, time and again", the employee said, confessing to total anarchy in certain sections of University. Another employee of Administration block revealed that after October 31, there will be no Vice Chancellor in University and after the acting VC will take charge, no degree certificates will be issued. A retired professor of JU, pleading anonymity said that the systems in JU have gradually collapsed ; the examination of PG course have been held behind schedule. "Most of professors are busy in politics rather than teaching and research work", he alleged. Repeated attempts to contact Keshav Sharma, the controller of Examination failed as he didn't respond to calls. Meanwhile, PRO of JU, Vinay Thussu said that the delay might be due to convocation. "I will confirm from the section and do needful", he said. |
