Jammu, Oct 30: The law School university of Jammu in collaboration with National Human Rights Commission organised the two-day National seminar on "Satyagraha, Self Discipline and Gandhi: A Discussion" According to press release, the seminar was distributed into different session's inaugural session, technical sessions and the valedictory session. Valedictory session Dr. Sudershan Iyengar Vice-Chancellor of Gujarat Vidyapith, Ahmedabad was the chief guest in the valedictory session. In his address he said that India can contribute in a unique way if Gandhi is invoked in the promotion and protection of Human Right values. He stressed upon the Indian concept of rights which emanates from duty. Prof. Arvind Jasrotia, director the law school presented the welcome address. Dr. Seema Rohmetra, organising secretary of the seminar presented a detailed presentation of the report of the seminar. In the seminar, four technical sessions were held, which comprised of the two main sessions and two parallel technical sessions, during which the delegates presented papers on different. Prof. Gurjeet Singh, professor department of law, GNDU presented a paper on 'contemporary relevance of Gandhi with regard to human rights'. Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh DIG Jallander police, presented a paper on the role of police in protection of human rights using Gandhian methodologies in resolving conflicts. He stressed upon the fact that the British colonial arrangement was made with a purpose to destroy the natural consciousness of Bharat which is continuing till today. |
