Udhampur, Oct 30: Following the inclement weather in September month, the Chennai Hydro Electric Project (CHEP) Chenani Udhampur was forced to shut down owing to some damages which further has resulted heavy losses to state government.
According to sources, the CHEP Chenani on an average was generating 3.50 lakh units per day and was generating an average revenue of Rs 7.00 lakh per day and since its closure for last more than 55 days the loss has turned to multifold with each passing day. Locals alleged that the total loss accumulated to Rs 3.85 Crore could have been avoided after the temporary restoration involving some Rs 2.0-3.0 lakh but the concerned department is just in slumber and the loss is further increasing and the department seems non cared about the loss to state exchequer.
