Contractors allege violation of codal formalities | Arbitrary allocation of works in electrical division Budgam | | Shakeel A Khan
BUDGAM, Oct 30: The tall claims of the government that it is committed to bring transparency in the functioning of the departments has proved to be a damp squib as mass irregularities have been reported in the electrical division Budgam. As per reports the works have been allotted to the blue eyed persons without going through the required formalities. The contractors are up in the arms against the authorities who revealed that the works have been allotted without the tenders to the persons who are the blue eyed ones without having any consideration for the contractors who are professional and deserving. These contractors are of the opinion that it is the highhandedness of the Executive Engineer posted in the electrical division Budgam who allots the works to his favourites without tenders. If these contractors are to be believed, the other employees working in the electrical division Budgam are also the part of this nexus who play an important role while allotting the works. "Very recently we met the District Development Commissioner and conveyed to him our concerns. We have presented a memorandum to the District Development Commissioner wherein we impressed upon him that the step motherly treatment at the hands of the electrical division Budgam is equal to kick in the abdomen of the poor people," said a contractor wishing not to be named while talking to the Early Times. This contractor was all fire against the executive engineer as according to him he allots the works to the undeserving lot without having any considerations for the experienced ones. Though a committee was formed to look into the wrongdoings of the executive engineer but till date we continue to suffer. This contractor went on saying that he like many others rely very heavily on this profession for their livelihood and by executing works makes the both ends meet for them, but the ill concerns of the concerned executive engineer has brought them miseries only. Early Times wanted to have a clarification from the DC Budgam but despite repeated attempts he could not be contacted. |
