JAMMU, Oct 31: Several political and social organizations besides educational institutions today celebrated birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel by participating in Run for Unity.
The State unit of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha organized "Run For Unity" marathon on the occasion of birth anniversary of Sardar Patel.
Besides party activists, hundreds of students from various schools, NSS, NCC and people from all walks of life participated in the program and showed their zeal of unity and brotherhood among each other.
State BJP Chief and MP Jugal Kishore Sharma flagged off the marathon in the presence of Leader of Legislative Party Ashok Khajuria and State General Secretary (Org.) Ashok Koul. The marathon started from Ranvireshwar Temple and culminated at Dogra Chowk outside Press Club.
Central University of Jammu (CUJ) organized various functions at the Temporary Academic Block (TAB), Sainik Colony today. The officiating Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Deepak Raj Gupta motivated the students, faculty, Deans and non-teaching staff for having a strong will and determination, which were the forte of Sardar Patel.
JK Public School, Kunjwani celebrated the birth anniversary of Sardar Patel as Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day). A 'Run for Unity' was organized which was followed by a friendly cricket match, played between the students and the teachers.
Government Degree College (GDC) Rajouri today celebrated the Birth Anniversary of Sardar Patel as 'Rashtriya Ekta Divas' here at college premises.
Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Patel, was observed at KV Bantalab today with great enthusiasm and gaiety.
The Deputy Commissioner, Jammu Region AVLJ Rao was the chief guest of the occasion.
NCC Wing of Govt Higher Secondary School (Boys) Kathua and St Xaviers Convent School Kathua jointly organized Run for Unity on the occasion of National Unity day celebrated to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Patel,
For creating awareness and motivating the youth for their greater participation in the assembly Elections, District Election Office Kathua organized Run for Unity and Vote on the National Integration Day under SVEEP programme here at Kalibari in Kathua today.
A function was also organized at Kalibari Chowk where ADDC Er Narinder Singh Bali and SSP Pawan Parihar flagged off Run for Unity Rally. The rally comprising students of Kartar Public School Barnoti students passed through various parts of the town in which students holding placards displaying the appeal for unity and integration.
Shakti Punj , a social organization Hiranagar celebrated Rashtriya Ekta Diwas in collaboration with NYK Kathua by organizing "Run For Unity " programme. Students from Kendriyia VIdyalaya Hiranagar, Govt. Hr. Sec. School Hiranagar, Public Model Hr.Sec. School, Model Public Hr. Sec. School, Bhartiyia Vidya Mandir school, Infant Jesus Hr, Sec. School, volunteers of Shakti Punj participated in the run.
Govt. Degree College, Kathua celebrated Rashtriya Ekta Diwas on 31st Oct. 2014 to pay tributes to independent India's first union home minister and hero Sardar Patel on his 139th birth anniversary. BSF School celebrated the birth anniversary of Sardar Patel as 'Rashtriya Ekta Diwas' (National Unity Day), in the school campus as a mark of tribute to the efforts of the country's First Home Minister to unite India. Addressing the gathering, Rakesh Kumar Sharma, IG BSF Jammu FTR said: "We cannot conceive of solar system without the sun and similarly, we cannot conceive of modern India without Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel."
DCM Public School, Akhnoor organized its Annual Sports Day in the school mini stadium along with "Run For Unity" to celebrate the birth anniversary of Sardar Patel. Students and staff ran and covered two kilometers stretch. The run was flagged off by the Chairman of School, S.P. Sharma.
126 Bn of Border Security Force (BSF) and all officers of this battalion including sos and jawans celebrate the Rastriya Ekta diwas in occasion of sardar bhalla bhai patel birthday in battalion head quarter at village Penthi Samba. They run for unity in the morning then take the oath for unity, at the evening time prade ceramony was also be organised at battalion headquarter in the presence of commandant 126 Battalion Hari Lal.
The government wants to create awareness about the contribution of Sardar Patel during India's Independence movement and towards ensuring national integration in India,
As part of the day-long celebrations, BSF personnel across the country will organise parades and pay their respect to free India's the government has decided to make 'Rashtriya Ekta Diwas' a popular mass movement, and invites all the sections of the society to participate in it said commandant Hari Lal of 126 Battalion samba.
Union Minister of State in PMO having Independent Charge of Science and Technology, Dr Jitendra Sing today paid glowing tributes to Sardar Patel by describing him among the towering personalities of the country who played a key role in freedom struggle and unity of the nation.
Talking to reporters at the sidelights of Run for Unity here today organized by IIM from its regional laboratories canal road to fourth Tawi bridge in connection with commemoration of birth anniversary of former home Minsiter of India Sardar Patel, he said Sardar Patel was known for his rectitude, conviction and quick decision making. It is a matter of vindication for all of us that after 65 years of independence government has declared his birthday as national unity day, he added.
The Run for Unity was organized by Indian Institute of Integrated Medicines (IIIM) from its complex, Canal road to Fourth Tawi bridge, Bhagwati Nagar and back to IIIM Canal road. Hundreds of volunteers including the staff of IIIM under the chairmanship of its Director Dr Vishwakarma also participated in the Run for Unity. Terming Sardar Patel a symbol of dignity and unity of country, Dr Jitendra Singh said historians are of the opinion that merger of 500 princely states into Indian Union was not possible without his assertiveness. Sardar Patel was architect for the formation of Indian Republic, he added.
Dr Singh said on the issue of Kashmir Sardar Patel's approach marked clarity. Had he been given a free hand by the then Prime Minister to deal with the issue , the State of J&K would have not gone through all these controversies it has gone over the years, he added.
He said the run for unity was also taken out at Hyderabad, Chennai, MP and other places of the country by the Science and Technology Department.
Dr Singh said it is occasion for us to rededicate ourselves for unity and integrity of the country as cherished by Sardar Patel.
National Unity Day was celebrated in shape of Rally which was organized by 2 J&K Bn NCC Jammu under the able leadership of Capt. Karan Singh Bhau Associate NCC Officer of Assistant Prof. in Physics of GDC Paloura. Before starting the rally all the participants took oath for unity and solidarity of Nation. 100 NCC Boys and Girls cadets has participated in the said rally. The rally was started from Parade Ground Jammu at 09:00 AM and culminated at Dogra Chowk Jammu.
