ULB transferred "tainted" officials a day before MCC came into force | Transfers were made in violation of Review Committee norms | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Oct 31: Flouting the norms of Review Committee, Urban and Local Bodies (ULB) transferred some tainted officials just a day before the implementation of Model Code of Conduct (MCC) and gave them important postings. Some ULB officials, against whom there were alleged cases of corruption in the state vigilance organization (SVO), were too awaiting orders of posting, according to official sources. It may be mentioned here that a government Review Committee vide order No 252HUD of 2014 had recommended that no official facing corruption charges should be transferred and given sensitive postings. The government order reads that no officer or official facing corruption charges should be awarded sensitive posting. Directorate of Urban Local Bodies vide order No DULB/Estt/PS/86-11/378 of 2014 transferred an allegedly tainted official who was awaiting orders of posting as the head of Pampore Municipal Committee in the valley while another allegedly tainted official was too transferred and posted as the head of Sopore Municipal Committee. The official who has been posted as MC Pampore head was booked by SVO when he was Executive Officer Municipal Committee Achabal for allegedly committing a fraud. A case vide FIR number 28/2014 stands registered against him in Vigilance Organization, Kashmir. Similarly, the official who has been given new place of posting in MC Sopore was arrested by SVO for allegedly indulging in corruption and illegal appointments when he was Executive Officer Municipal Committee Sumbal/Hajin. |
