No coordination between JK Govt and Railways? | Relief material for flood victims seized | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 31: Omar Abdullah led Government has once again been exposed for its lack of coordination with the Central Government departments to ensure proper transportation and distribution of the relief material meant for flood affected people of state. As the Government of J&K claims to be providing all the logistical help for Kashmir flood victims several tons of relief material is made to rot at the Jammu railway station due to inefficiency of the authorities at the helm of affairs. As per details available the Railways is demanding hefty amount from various Non Governmental organizations as halting charges for the relief material at Jammu railway station . More than twenty five days back a large consignment of eatables , blankets and warm clothing was dispatched by some voluntary organizations and volunteers of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) based in Bhopal and Bhiwani Haryana for flood affected people of Srinagar and Budgam , but till date the consignment is not being allowed to be lifted as the railway authorities demand halting charges amounting to more than 27,000 rupees from the local activists of AAP in Srinagar. "As the original challan (bilty) could not reach on time to our Jammu based party volunteers due to delay in the courier service , there was some delay in releasing the relief consignment . In addition to it the Jammu- Srinagar road was also closed for a week early this month and now the railway authorities are demanding Rs 27,000 from us as halting charges , which is sheer injustice with us and Govt is not at all bothered to help us out" said AAP leader Mir Ajaz of Gudsathoo Budgam Mi has been camping at Jammu from the last more than five days and contacted the railway officials there , but they have categorically told him that relief material cannot be released unless the amount was paid . " We have been told to pay the said amount which is totally injustice with relief victims" he added. |
