Early Times Report

Srinagar, Oct 31: At a time when entire nation pledged to stand by unity and integrity of India on the occasion of Birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel, Students at the Central University of Kashmir (CUK) not only refused to participate in programs scheduled by University authorities, but indulged in anti India rant and the authorities chose to look the other side.
Amid anti India slogans within varsity campus and marching along the university lawns, the students of CUK today on the National Unity Day not only boycotted the celebrations of National Unity Day but also refused to participate in a first of its kind progamme organized in the university campus, Swachh Bharat campaign or National cleanliness drive planned by university authorities.
The students also raised anti India slogans and while marching through the lawns of the newly established campus were carrying placards and banners which read slogans like "Boycott Rashtriya diwas" and "Give us Freedom, which is our right" etc. One Student pleading anonymity said that as per their reports 'university authorities had planned to run first of its kind 'Swachh Bharat campaign in the campus today, however when students of different streams enrolled in the campus came to know about the proramme of authorities, they not only refused to participate, but raised anti India and pro 'azadi' slogans but also pasted Posters and placards at many places within the campus which read slogans like "Boycott to Rashtriya Ekta Diwas" and "Freedom is our Birth right, Living life like an independent nation, Building future like an independent nation is our birth right."
Another student said that authorities despite watching all such and similar other kind of activities, remained mum within their chambers and did not even bother to carry out any kind of inquiry against anybody.
Central university of Kashmir is the first place where Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan' or 'Clean India' campaign which was kick started by him on Gandhi Jayanti on October 2 faced opposition.
It was Prime Minister, Narendra Modi who launched his nationwide cleanliness campaign, the 'Swachh Bharat Mission' from the Valmiki Basti in New Delhi on October 2 where from Modi after addressing the nation at the launch asked India's 1.25 billion people to join the 'Swach Bharat Mission' and promote it to everyone and himself swept a pavement at Valmiki Basti, a colony of sanitation workers. It is worthy to mention that Swach Bharat campain of Narendra Modi so far has not received any overwhelming impetus from either government or Private sectors on ground level in flood affected Kashmir where still streets of Srinagar and lanes by lanes of other towns and Tehsils remain filled with debris and the same according to locals is merely an administrative lawlessness.
