Jammu, Oct 31: The "disciplined" BJP these days is witnessing intense infighting among senior leaders who have been trying to adjust their "loyalists" by managing tickets for them. Credible sources in the BJP said that instead of formulating strategy to achieve the target of Plus 44 seats in the coming Assembly elections, BJP leaders are more concerned about accommodating their loyalists. "During their meeting with Ram Madhav BJP leaders projected their own supporters instead of suggesting names of winnable candidates on some seats", sources said and added that apart from managing mandates of senior supporters BJP leaders are formulating strategies to ensure that their rivals could not win elections. Credible sources said that high command of BJP has taken serious note of the casual approach being adopted by the state leaders in contesting crucial assembly elections. Most of the BJP leaders, who are managing affairs in the party, are more concerned about settling score their political rivals in the party rather than working to achieve the target. "It was all due to this approach of the state leadership that high command has deputed national general secretary Ram Madhav to start damage control exercise", sources said and added that Ram Madhav while interacting with local BJP leaders gave them a strict warning that such destructive approach of the state leadership would not be tolerated. Ram Madhav, sources said, took BJP leaders to task for indulging into deceit tactics to undermine each other. Smelling power in the days to come, BJP leaders of J&K these days are trying to cut each other size. It was result of the infighting that party leadership has failed to take decisions on the names of party candidates even for the first phase of assembly polls. |
