BUDGAM, Nov 20: People of valley especially of rural areas seem to have decided not to pay heed to the boycott call of the separatist leaders as these areas remain abuzz with election related activities these days.
Not only this, the people seem to have ignored even the boycott call given by the United Jehad Council (UJC) and are eagerly waiting for the polling days.
The road shows and the election rallies of different parties are a common experience these days which witness a huge turnout.
The supporters of different parties put in all efforts to attract the voters without any sense of fear that was prevalent only till yesterday. Come what the reasons may be the coming assembly election is going to be the busiest affair of the last two decades, say the people.
"This kind of enthusiasm was missing all these years as the people lived under the fear.
Now the people feel that the fear has paved way for the peace and are ready to decide about the future of the state, doesn't matter which party wins," said Zahoor Ahmad from Beerwah.
It is interesting to mention that Budgam district has been a home to the top militant commanders but despite this reality the people have made a choice to exercise their franchise this time. It is pertinent to mention here that thousands of supporters accompanied the leaders of different parties when they went to file nomination papers.
"I hardly sleep these days as I think it is the crucial time as far as the political future of the state is concerned which has witnessed devastation in the last two and a half decades.
I take it as my responsibility to ensure a corruption free environment in my state," said Abdul Latief from Soibugh.
The youth in particular are in the forefront in the election related activities which can be justified by the fact that many violent clashes broke out between the supporters of the different political parties.
It appears that the youth have forgotten about the bitter past are working tirelessly to make the coming assembly election a success by countering all odds.
People from all sections of the society could be seen busy in discussing election related issues as to which party will get maximum seats and which coalition is going to form the government.
