Only 1 PP, 4 Police Stations under CCTV surveillance in entire Jammu province | Police stations in 'hypersensitive zones' still lack CCTV surveillance | | Bivek Mathur Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 20: With Legislative Assembly elections coming nearer in Jammu and Kashmir, the police and other agencies have claimed their preparedness ahead of polls during security review meetings but official information revealed that no police station in any hypersensitive and semi hyper zones have been equipped with Closed Circuit Television Cameras (CCTV) surveillance in Jammu province which is vital component for enhanced security cover. Besides, only one Police Post (PP) and 4 Police Stations are under Closed Circuit Television Cameras (CCTV) surveillance in Jammu province while rests still are in queue. Official information with ET brought startling revelations that barely five Police stations have been equipped with CCTVs and these privileged five include one Police Post and two Police Stations in the holy town of Katra whereas the other two Police Stations are in Jammu district. It is astounding that police stations in politically sensitive districts and areas infested with militancy like those in Rajouri and Poonch have been deprived of this security essential. |
