Jammu, Nov 21: Semifinals line-up has been drawn with the entry of Bhanda Bahadur Hockey Club Poonch and Namdhari XI in the last four stages of the 2nd Sant Gurbaksh Singh Danna Memorial Hockey Tournament being held under the aegis of Hockey Jammu and Kashmir at K K Hakhu Stadium, here today. Other two teams already qualified for the semifinals are J&K Police and Guru Nanak Nagar Club (GNNC). Now, in the semifinals, J&K Police shall take on Bhanda Bahadur Club Poonch at 1 pm while Namdhari XI shall be playing against GNCC at 2.30 pm tomorrow. Earlier, in the quarterfinals, Bhanda Bahadur Club defeated Star XI Pathankot 6-1. Manpreet Singh opened the account for Poonch converting a penalty corner in the very eighth minute of the match. The lead was improved by Thakur Jeet Singh, who scored three goals striking in the ninth, 12th and 33rd minute. Tanveer Singh in the 52nd and Manpreet Singh in the 54th were other goal scorers. From Star XI Pathankot, Tumbi reduced the margin netting the ball in the 28th minute. Meanwhile, in other last eight stages match, Namdhari XI blanked Gurdaspur Hockey Club 5-0. Vazeer Singh (11th), Prince (16th), Gagandeep Singh (17th and 53rd) and Udhampreet Singh (29th) were the scorers. Today's matches officiated by the technical penal including Joginder Singh, D Singh, Iqbal Singh, Amarjeet Singh, Dilbir Mehta, Charanjeet Singh, Jagjeet Singh and GS Bakshi. In today's matches, Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE), Manjeet Singh Chema and Inspector General of Police, Mukesh Singh were guests of honour. |
