Early Times Report

Doda, Nov 22: Roads and Building Minister Abdul Majid Wani today addressed a number of public rallies at village Pranoo, Revarra, Shangroo, Troan and Nai Dangri in Doda constituency. Addressing the meetings, Wani said that Azad had opened up floodgates of development in the state by proper planning, assessment of people's needs and inculcating working culture in otherwise defunct government machinery.
A number of major infrastructural development projects were conceived and started during those two and half years. In fact, unprecedented developmental activities were started in the state with focus on building of roads, bridges, mini secretariat buildings at district level, new district hospital buildings, tourism development authorities, inter-regional highways, schools, colleges, off-site university campuses and health infrastructure, etc. A number of new districts were created and stage was also set up by Ghulam Nabi Azad for creation of new administrative units upto patwar level. Today people from remote and far flung areas have revenue administration at their doorsteps. People of this state, particularly Doda constituency, are indebted to the son of soil Ghulam Nabi Azad who, as Health Minister in the Centre, had sanctioned a number of new health centres, Cancer Hospitals and Medical colleges in backward & hilly areas of the state.
Today also, a number of NC and BJP workers joined Congress Party in presence of Abdul Majid Wani. Fifteen National Conference workers led by Ab. Gani, Hab Lal, Ab. Qyum and Annayatullah joined Congress at public rally in Pranu, whereas another four NC/ BJP workers viz., Budhi Singh, Saroop Krishan both from National Conference and Vinod Giri and Anil Kumar both from BJP joined Congress party at village Revarra. Lashing out at coalition partner, National Conference, for allegedly playing spoilsport and and delaying creation of new administrative units, especially in backward areas of Doda constituency, Abdul Majid Wani said few NC ministers ensured that crucial issues like regularisation of daily wagers and settlement of POK refugees are not settled.
