BARAMULLA, Nov 22: Out of the 23 candidates 7 are from regional parties and sixteen as independent candidates who have filed their nominations till Friday, but no BJP candidate has been fielded from Sopore assembly Constituency for the upcoming assembly elections which is scheduled to be held on Dec 09. According to sources that, " more or less 23 candidates have filed their nominations forms, both regional as well as independent , but Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) has not fielded its candidate from the volatile area of Sopore assembly constituency for which nomination has been closed on Friday. Sources who are the supporters of BJP told early times that, migrant voters was a positive point for their party, however they said that, now the constituency will witness a neck to neck fight between PDP and NC. "We understand that our Sopore constituency remains a little bit tense throughout the elections, but our supporters were positive in favor of BJP, sources added.A group of BJP supporters said that nominated candidate of National conference (NC) Haji Mohammad Ashraf Ganie had some days back urged the Hurriyat Conference chairman, Syed Ali Geelani, to withdraw his poll boycott call. "Ashraf has urged that, it could be a major setback for separatist leaders, if BJP bags Sopore on the strength of migrant voters, according to them that BJP had earlier said the party was focusing on Sopore constituency apart from others, but left the constituency for other candidates, angry supporters said. However in Sopore assembly constituency of district Baramulla, there are total number of 23 candidates,seven from regional parties like and Sixteen as an independent, the candidates are Nazir Ahmad Naikoo of (PDP), Mohammad Maqbool Rather (BSP), Muzafar Ahmad Lone (JKNPP) Abdul Rashid Dar (INC), Mohammad Ashraf Ganie (NC) Zahid Gani Mirchal (KMP) and Mohammad Ramzan Baba (PC) of regional parties. Almost there are sixteen independent candidates in Sopore assembly constituency like, Bashir Ahmad Azad (Ind), Ulfat Sabba Ahmad Khawaja (Ind), Shabir Ahmad Dar (Ind) Sayed Irshad Ahmad (Ind) Sajad Mohi-udddin Sheikh(Ind), Mudasir Manzoor Wani (Ind), Gh. Hassan Lone (Ind), Khazir Mohammad Ganie (Ind), Shabir Ahmad Dar (Ind), Irshad Rasool Kar (Ind), Gh. Rasool Dar (Ind), Ghulam Mohammad War (Ind), Sayed Iqbal Nazki (Ind), Mohammad Abdullah Dar (Ind), Khazar Mohammed Ganie (Ind), and Shahzad Aasim (Ind). In Sopore assembly constituency there are 101958 registered electors, in which male electors are 53253 male and 48705 female voters and 8956 migrant electors.Meanwhile it is pertinent to mention here that in the 3rd phase of Assembly election which is to be held in the second week of December 09. |
