PDP hits back at Congress for hatching 'criminal conspiracy', threatens agitation | Congress condemn 'distortedly act', terms it 'frustration of disgruntled elements' | | Sanjay Pathak

Kathua, Nov 23 : A day after son of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate from KathuaSubash Sharma arrested for allegedly firing at the residence of Congress candidate Babu Singh, the PDP today levelled counter allegations against Babu Singh accusing him of hatching a "criminal conspiracy" to sabotage its candidate politically in current Assembly elections. Talking to the media persons here, Subash Sharma, flanked by his father and former Deputy Chief Minister Mangat Ram Sharma, said it was Babu Singh and his supporters who allegedly entered their residence and abused the women present inside the house. "Babu Singh and his supporters forcibly entered our residence and abused women. They damaged our property and threatened family members of dire consequences. Despite the fact that we lodged a complaint with the police but no action was taken against the accused. We strongly condemn the police and warn that we will hit the streets if the police did not action against the accused within 12 hours," Sharma said. The police has arrested the accused Nitin Sharma alias Sharru, son of Subash Sharma under section 307, 452 RPC and 3/25 Arms Act. According to the police, both the families were neighbourers and shared a boundary wall in ward number 1 of Kathua town. The dispute began after Sharru spotted an election poster of Babu Singh pasted on the wall of their shop in the area. Meanwhile, Babu Singh expressed his anger over the incident and accused the PDP candidate of resorting to "cheap politics" saying it was an outcome of their frustration. Addressing a number of public meetings during his campaign trail in the constituency he asked the PDP to shun the "cheap politics". He also alleged that Sherru made a "murderous attack" on his brother Satinder Singh and abused the women inside the house. The Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) spokesman Y V Sharma condemned the "distortedly act" of unprovoked firing at the residence of Congress candidate by the son of PDP candidate from Kathua constituency. He termed the incident "most unfortunate", especially because Nitin Sharma is the grand son of Mangat Ram Sharma and son of the PDP candidate fighting election against Congress candidate. He felt the frustration of "disgruntled elements" were compelling to vitiate the democratic process and appealed to all political parties to keep their flock under restrain and fight elections on the basis of their achievements and merit. |
