MENDHAR, Nov 23: A woman was allegedly beaten up by BJP candidate from Mendhar assembly segment, Zulfikar Khan Pathan after she told him that she would vote for him only if he settled the land dispute with him.
In her written complaint to Mendhar police, Hashmat Bi, wife of Mohammad Ikhlaq of Basoni, Balakote, alleged that Pathan, accompanied by his PSOs and Balakote police post incharge, came to her tent last Saturday night and asked her if she would vote for him or not.
She said though she owned 52 kanals of land in the village, she had only 2.5 kanals in her possession. When she asked Pathan to settle the land issue with her, he and his PSOs allegedly beat her up, causing her injuries in her arm and on other parts of the body, she alleged.
She was admitted to the sub-district hospital, Mendhar, for the treatment of her injuries. When contacted, Block Medical Officer (BMO), DrPravez Ahmad Khan said the woman was undergoing treatment in the hospital as she had sustained injuries in her arm.
Police have taken cognizance of the matter. |
