Ex-VC ordered recovery, incharge questions decision | JU Charge allowance case | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Nov 23: Within 23 days of ex-Vice Chancellor of Jammu University (JU) Prof. Mohan Pal Singh Isher demitting office, the incumbent Incharge has begun flexing muscles and questioning the administrative decisions taken by him. Sources in the Vice-Chancellor's secretariat told Early Times that acting Vice-Chancellor Prof. R.D.Sharma has constituted a committee headed by ex-Registrar Prof. Naresh Padha to review decision taken by ex-VC to recover charge allowance paid to five Incharge Deputy Registrars. They added that the Padha headed committee has been assigned the task of finding out whether recovery process should be initiated or not. Sources further said that the acting VC was not convinced with the reasoning mentioned in the file and sought review of the same. They added that the five Incharge Deputy Registrars against whom the recovery process was to be initiated include Incharge Joint Registrar (Finance) Dr. JatinderKhajuriaalongwithIncharge Deputy Registrars Dr. Raj Kumar, R.C.Gupta and Ajay Kumar, all of whom are working in the Directorate of Distance Education (DDE) and VivekSalathia, who is Incharge Deputy Registrar of the teaching wing. Another Incharge Deputy Registrar Tarannum Khan, who is presently out of country, also finds mention among the officials, against whom Isher had ordered initiating recovery process. But the acting VC Prof. R.D.Sharma within days of taking over has framed a committee to review the decision and if the insiders are to be believed, to get the same revoked since these five officials have already verbally communicated that they would prefer approaching court of law then returning amount worth Lakhs to the University. They said that the ex-VC had ordered recovery after going through rules and regulations and after he was convinced that the five officials have withdrawn excess amount of charge allowance and that the same should be recovered from them. Isher had outrightly said that the five officials have been paid wrongly and the same should be recovered from them, informed an official. He went on and said that the new acting VC had no genuine reason to overturn the decision and frame a review committee, aimed at actually saving these five Registrars. |
