Distt Adm fully prepared for smooth conduct of Assembly polls: DC Rajouri | | | Early Times Report
Rajouri, Nov 25 : District administration is fully prepared for the smooth conduct of Assembly election scheduled onDecember 20 under fifth phase of polling process in state stated Jatinder K Singh. IAS, Deputy Commissioner, who also is District Election Officer (DEO) while talking to media persons here today Flanked with Sr Superintendent of Police Rajouri, DrHaseeb Mughal, the Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Jatinder K Singh said, "District administration has constituted 517 polling stations at 433 locations for 3883867 eligible voters in four Assembly constituencies of the district. "517 presiding officers, 1551 polling officers, 517 class IV employees and 60 Micro Observers have already been trained in how to perform their duties and how to handle the EVMs, he added. DDC/DEO Mr Singh said that after notification on November 26 candidates can submit their nomination papers to respective Returning officers before 3pm on December 3. "Scrutiny of the nomination papers will be done on December 4 and before 4 pm on December 6 candidates can withdraw their candidature ad the pollig will take place on November 20" said DEO. He added that candidates seeking election from Rajouri constituency can file their nomination papers I the office of Chief Horticulture office, who is RO, Rajouri constituency, at Rajouri while nomination papers for Nowshera constituency will be accepted by DeepatiUpaal, SDM at Nowshera. Candidates for Kalakot constituency can file their nomination with RO, DrBasharatHussain at BDO office at Kalakot while those want to contest from Darhal constituency are directed to file their nomination papers at Rajouri in the officer of SukhdevSingh , ACR who is RO, Darhal constituency. He ensured that all the measures for smooth conduct of polls have been put in place while all the polling stations , having past history of law and order problem have been put in the category of sensitive or hyper sensitive to ensure that fool proof security arrangements remain in place to prevent any untoward incident. He also assured to provide every basic facility like drinking water, electricity toilets etc in all the polling stations and also assured to make some polling stations as model polling stations. Concluding his address DEO also appealed to the representatives of print and electronic media to educate the people for maximum participation in the polling process and also to highlight the programmes being carried out by the administration under SVEEP to aware the people about the value of their franchise. Meanwhile briefing about security situation in district, SSP RajouriDrHaseeb Mughal, said, "1100 personnel of Rajasthan police have already been deployed in Sunderbani, Nowshera, Kalakot, Kotranka, Budhal, Darhal, Rajouri, Thanamndi, Manjakot, Keri tehsils and other areas for the security of the candidates for their rallies and agents." "Police and flying squads constituted by the election authorities have been keeping strict vigil on the movements of anti-social and anti-national elements and during last few days Rs 80 lakh was recovered at the police 'nakas' but was released to the owners after producing valid documents. Three FIRs were registered against the drug peddlers while three bovine smugglers were also booked by the police" SSP Rajouri added. He also said that round the clock frisking of the people is in progress so that no anti-social or anti-national element can enter the district. Besides SSP Rajouri, Dr. Haseeb Mughal, AdDCRajouri, Mohammad Saleem Malik, ADDC Veer JiHangloo and representatives of political parties were present in the meeting. Thereafter DEO/DDC RajouriJatinder K Sigh also held a meeting of representatives of political parties , independent candidates ad briefed them about various provisions of law pertaining to election campaign , model code of conduct and election expenditure monitoring mechanism. |
