Early Times Report
KATHUA, Nov 25: Kathua police today registered an FIR against the former minister and Congress candidate from Kathua Assembly seat Babu Singh for allegedly trespassing into the house of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate from the seat Subash Sharma. Subash Sharma is the son of former Deputy Chief Minister Mangat Ram Sharma who had recently joined the PDP and was given mandate from Kathua constituency. The FIR was registered on the directions of Session Court after the PDP candidate and his family members approached the court pleading that the police did not initiate action against Babu Singh and his supporters for forcibly entering their house and abusing the women on November 22. "On the directions of the court, a case under section 460, 504, 506, 509, 149 and 120/B has been registered against the Congress candidate Babu Singh, his brothers Ravinder Singh and Satinder Singh, Rahul Sharma, Kane, Avtar Singh, Sahab Singh and 50-60 unknown persons," a senior police officer said. It may be placed here that Subash Sharma's son Nitin Sharma alias Sharru had allegedly opened fire at the residence of Babu Singh on November 22 night and was later arrested by the police. Next day, Subash Sharma along with his father Mangat Ram Sharma had addressed a press conference accusing Babu Singh and his supporters of forcibly entering their residence and abused women. They damaged our property and threatened family members of dire consequences. Despite the fact that we lodged a complaint with the police but no action was taken against the accused. We strongly condemn the police and warn that we will hit the streets if the police did not action against the accused within 12 hours," they had said. Both the families were neighbourers and shared a boundary wall in ward number 1 of Kathua town. The dispute had started after Sharru saw an election poster of Babu Singh pasted on the wall of their shop in the area. Today, Subash Sharma along with his wife Neelam Sharma and his daughter approached the Sessions Court and demanded a direction to the police for registering case against Babu Singh. |
