JAMMU, Nov 25: A One day workshop on "Importance of Patents, Copyrights, Trademarks and other Intellectual Property Rights" was organized at Govt. Polytechnic, Jammu in collaboration with J&K State Council for Science and Technology. Er. Arun Bangotra, Principal, Govt. Polytechnic, Jammu along with Shafat Sultan, Addl. Director, JKS&TC falicitated the Chief Guest, Jenab Parvez Ahmed Malik, Secretary to Govt., Science & Technology and IT Deptt. and Guest of Jenab Nazir Ahmed Malik, Secretary, J&K State Board of Technical Education on this event. The Principal emphasised on the importance and need of IPR in this modern era. Speaking on the occasion the Chief Guest urged that we are living in a knowledge economy, where ideas generated by talented people and the inventions they make are the new currency. The speeches of the dignitaries were followed by a technical sessions by Sajid Sheikh, Lecturer, Dogra Law College, Jammu,Er. Manik Gupta, Regd. Patent Agent and Er.Idrees-Ul-Haq, Representative, JK Innovators Forum. The speakers focussed upon the basics of IPR and protection of innovation and inventions by Patents. Stress was also laid on the future of IPR in India and how it could be fruitfully exploited for the benefit of all. After technical session an open discussion followed by exhibition of final year student projects took place.The workshop was organized by Er. Khalid Sheikh, Lecturer, Govt.
