New Delhi, Nov 26: After much delays, the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) ended its draw for the 2014 Housing Scheme on Tuesday.
The process of draw, which started at 11.30 AM, will be completed in less than two hours, DDA's official spokesperson said, adding that the randomisation of data in the system would begin around 9 AM.
"We will start the randomisation of data at 9 AM, which would take around two hours. The final draw would start at 11.30 AM which would stretch about one hour and 45 minutes," DDA spokesperson Nemo Dhar said.
"The draw of lots was wrapped up in record time of 40 days despite receiving 10,08,985 applications, the highest in DDA history," DDA Vice Chairman Balvinder Kumar told reporters here.
The draw was held under the supervision of retired Delhi High Court judge Manju Goel, National Informatics Centre DG Mahesh Chandra and IIT-Delhi professor Anshul Kumar.
DDA will be holding a camp at its headquarters after 15 days where the verification of the documents of successful applicants will be done.
"General applicants may be handed over the demand-cum- allotment letter thereafter and the reserved category applicants will be handed over the same after authentication of their documents," said Balvinder Kumar.
The DDA vice-chairman added, "Each allottee shall be provided with an ID and password through which he will be able to track the status (of the allotment process). Allottees will also be notified through SMS and email alerts."
The draw, which started at its scheduled time at around 11:30 A.M. At the DDA headquarters here, was completed within two hours after two seed numbers -- 0355299 for applicants and 03695 for flats -- were fed as reference into the fully computerised and automated system.
Amit Roy, who landed a Janta Flat at New Kondli, was elated upon finding his name in the list of successful applicants.
"I am very happy now that I will have my own roof over my head as I was staying in a rented apartment for the last six years. I had also applied for the DDA Housing Scheme in 2010, but luck didn't favour me that time," said Roy, a private sector executive.
The draw was originally scheduled to be held at the agency's headquarters, Vikas Sadan, on November 5 but has been postponed a number of times since then.
The mock draws by the DDA, reportedly, were not able to finish the whole process in less than six hours.
More than ten lakh people have applied for the housing scheme.
The DDA has announced that the entire draw will be webcast live on the internet on a dedicated url - www.ddadrawlive.in.
"We have created a dedicated website (www.ddadrawlive.in) for the draw, and instead of directly webcasting through a YouTube channel, we later decided to create a separate window for the event altogether, where online user can see the proceedings live," DDA's Director (Systems) VS Tomar had said earlier, as per PTI.
C-DAC (Centre for Development of Advanced Computing), which had conducted the draw for DDA's last housing scheme in 2010, has been roped in this time again for the event.
25,000 flats across various categories are on offer by the DDA this time. They are in the price range of Rs 7 lakh to Rs 1.2 crore. EWS, LIG, MIG, HIG, Janta flats and one-room apartments are on offer. The last date for filling application forms was October 15.
