Ill-equipped swimming pool once again becomes a subject of discussion | | | Shiv Dev Thakur Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 26: Ill-equipped swimming pool that was thrown open for the public use as well as the sports activities by the sports authorities, once again becomes the subject of discussion when a Swimming Association approached for conducting trials as well as training camps. Sources told that the Sports Council use to backtrack on their own words by disallowing a Swimming association which was trying to conduct trials for the participation in the national event. The sources again said that as the renovation is still going on then what was the urge to throw the pool open around 5 months before in the month of July. The action of Sports authorities was merely an eye wash as they threw the half renovated pool open to the public after being inaugurated by Raman Bhalla (Minister of Youth Services and Sports). Even after the Words of Minister as well as Sports authorities to open the full functional pool after September only, the council had opened pool around 3 months before. Rajan Sharma, Sports Officer told Early Times that he refused to allow the association as it was defunct from past some years. Moreover, putting blames over the association ,he again maintained that the association have not given any notification in any Newspaper about the trial. Secretary, Jammu and Kashmir Swimming Association, told Early Times that the Sports officer refused to allow the association to conduct trials for the reason better known to him. He further added that the association already published the notification for the trials in the daily edition of Dainik Jagran on 2nd September, 2014. He again said that the officer is only trying to maintain the reply by blaming the functioning of the Association as he only gave the order notice which is available with the association stating, “The Swimming pool is not fit for trials”. |
