Jammu, Nov 26: Jammu District Judo Championship, organised by Jammu and Kashmir Judo Association, concluded at Indoor Complex, MA Stadium, here today. The last day of the five-day meet witnessed competition in three weight categories of boys. The first place in these weight groups of 50 kg, 66 kg and open went to Akshay Choudhary, Virbhadar Singh and Karan Mehta respectively. Medals were presented to the winners on the last day of the championship by senior vice president of the Association, R C Thakur while Varinder Dogra was guest of honour. Also present were Shiv Kumar, Suraj Sharma, Rohit Gupta, Rajeev Sharma, Anil Wadera, Inderpal Singh and Gurcharan Singh. Meanwhile, the Ankur Play School of BSF School declared best in under-10 age group considering the medals tally of the judokas representing the institutions. Earlier, a record 500 judokas in different age groups took part in this district championship held between November 22 and November 26. Deaf and Dumb boys: 50 kg: Sunil Kumar, Ist; Nabeel Ahmed, Dar, 2nd and Rohit Kumar, 3rd. 66 kg: Vishal Khajuria, Ist; Shubam Kumar, 2nd and Rohan Kumar, 3rd. 73 kg: Vivek Singh, Ist; Chetan, 2nd and Rohit, 3rd.
