Peer vows to fight for cause of New Theed people | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Nov 26: Independent Candidate from Sonwar Constituency Peer Bilal on Wednesday vowed to fight for the cause of New Theed people, who were uprooted from their ancestral prime location Gupkar- Chashma Shahi by the then Dogra ruler Hari Singh. Addressing a gathering, Peer Bilal said people of New Theed are living a life of deprivation for last seventy years in this barren land which lacks even basic amenities, not to say of any development. He said that subsequent government and the public representatives of the area have never had a feel of agony and pain these uprooted people are undergoing over all these decades. "I feel the pain and agony of my generations who were forced out of their ancestral homes by an aristocratic ruler to build citadel for him. But over all these decades the so called public representatives have also shown gross apathy towards us by not compensating that we have lost," Bilal rued. Questioning the role of National Conference (NC), which claims to be the oldest political party of Jammu and Kashmir, Bilal said the despite representing Sonwar constituency right from day one this party has done nothing good to the people, particularly the forcibly dislocated families of Theed. Bilal asked the people to decide their future themselves and teach a lesson to the political parties who have deceived them by rejecting them in the coming assembly elections. |
