NSF stages protest demonstration against JU authorities | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 26: Angered over failure of Jammu University authorities to ensure safety of scholars and students, National Secular Forum (NSF) Wednesday staged protest demonstration against varsity authorities for allowing debarred students in University campus. Around two dozen NSF protesters including scholars of Jammu University assembled near Fountain plaza and staged noisy protest demonstration, raising slogans against Dean Student Welfare (DSW) for not taking action against such students, who have been roaming in varsity campus despite ban on their entry in the University. Addressing media persons, NSF University Unit president Qayoom Malik said that few months back an outsider barged into Nehru hostel and assaulted scholar of University. "When the scholar apprised him about the matter, he along with other scholars, immediately called upon Dean Student Welfare for taking action, he refused to take any action". He further said that in the tenure of former Vice Chancellor MPS Isher hooliganism had witnessed decline but the present Vice Chancellor of Jammu University has been allowing the entry of such students (outsiders) in Jammu University, causing threat to life of scholars and students.Qayoom Malik further said that instead of strict action against such bad character students, varsity authorities have been promoting hooliganism in Jammu University. "This was pointing towards an apprehension that DSW and administration was also hand in glove with the outsiders", he alleged. Castigating further, he said, "What the outsiders were doing in Jammu University campus in the day and dead of the night, and what the security officers were doing", adding, "Already number of criminal cases are pending against such students but they are roaming free inside Jammu University campus and administration has failed to take any firm action against him". NSF appealed Chancellor NN Vohra to personally intervene in the matter and take a stern action against such students, and to pass some strictures, to curb the menace of outsiders inside Jammu varsity campus, otherwise they would start a massive agitation in front of Governor House. |
