BCE organizes Inter-College Symposium in Udhampur

UDHAMPUR, Nov 26: Bhartiya College of Education Udhampur organised an Inter-College symposium in the college auditorium today. The Symposium raised an important question relevant today-"The Role, Responsibilities and Rights of Voters."
The symposium was organized with the aim of making the youth realize the significance of elections and voting so that they can change their future and help in nation building. The programme started with the lighting of traditional lamp by the Chief Guest Garib Dass, DIG Udhampur-Reasi range and other dignitaries.
A total of about 16 participants from different colleges of Jammu and Udhampur participated in the symposium. Sidharth from GDC Boys Udhampur stressed on the importance of three R-Role, Right and Responsibility. Arun from Kalra College of Education spoke how the youth can bring out a revolution in our country.
On the other hand Shikha Mahajan from Bhaskar Degree College Udhampur reminded that voting is not only a right, but responsibility of every citizen. Archana from Women College Udhampur spoke about how who doesn't vote doesn't have the right to complain. Parul from Women College Udhampur emphasized on the greater participation in greater democracy. Sugandha Bakshi from Ranjeet college of Education Jammu said how voting is not about voting but choosing a leader. Shabina from GDC Boys Udhampur advocated on the awareness of youth at college level to encourage them to vote.
Speaking on the occasion Garib Dass spelt out the importance of election system and said that this process has been going on from the Vedic time. He said like other profession the youth should take up politics and help in taking our country forward.
The first cash prize of Rs. 1000 was bagged by Manisha of the host college. The second prize was bagged by Swati Thakur of Bhaskar Degree College Udhampur with the cash Prize of Rs. 700. While the third cash prize of Rs. 500 went to Archana Khajuria of Govt. College for women. A memento was also presented to the chief guest by the college management.
The programme was conducted by Sunil and Manishee. Vote of thanks was presented by Savita Sambyal, NSS coordinator of college.
