Fresh alert to troops guarding LoC as Kupwara goes to polls on Dec 2

Kupwara, Nov 27 : In view of the infiltration by militants at Jammu region this morning, a fresh alert has been issued to all field commanders on the Line of Control (LoC) as five constituencies in this frontier district are going to polls in the second phase on December 2. Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner of KupwaraItratHussainRafique said that in case of any ceasefire violations by Pakistan troops on the polling day, the authorities have already chalked out 'Plan-B'. Official sources said that a large number of militants are waiting across the LoC in launch pads at Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) to sneak into this side before the infiltration routes are closed.
Security forces recently unearthed hideouts and recovered war like stores in the district, where a number of infiltration attempts were made in the past.
Army claimed that the arms and ammunition recovered were to disrupt the poll process in north Kashmir.
Sources said there are reports that militants will sneak into this side to disrupt the poll process.
Though security forces guarding the border are already on high alert, a fresh message has been sent to intensify night and foot patrolling to foil any infiltration attempt.
The alert was issued following infiltration from PoK in Arnia sector of Jammu region this morning. Meanwhile, MrItrat said that all security arran-gments had been finalised for free, fair and peaceful polling in all the five constituencies of Karnah, Kupwara, Lolab, Handwara and Langate.
"We have 10 to 12 polling stations just on the LoC. We have already chalked out Plan-B in case, of any ceasefire violation by Pakistan troops," he added.
Election Commission has been informed about it which has also granted approval for shifting of these polling stations in case of any emergency, he said.
