Kishtwar, Dec 13 : The people of Kishtwar, who assembled outside the LPG distribution centre here today rued the new formalities and verification of the LPG connection so as to link it with Adhar card to avail the direct benefit of government subsidy to be implemented from January 2015. While talking to Early Times, several of them complained about the new set of procedure and demanded fast tracking of the formalities and setting up of more LPG distribution counters in the district for their convenience. "I am coming daily for the last 4-5 days but have failed to get the LPG cylinder even as I have completed all the formalities" said 70 year old Jevan Dhar. He said that the distributer had made a mess by inviting people haphazardly for availing LPG cylinders. He said that earlier system of distribution of LPG cylinders mohallahwise was a good step and demanded its continuation. Abdul Majid said that it is a difficult time for the public to get the LPG cylinder on time and added that women coming in large numbers are facing lot of problems while availing the LPG cylinders. He said there was a need for establishment of separate counter for women. He said that people are compelled to wait for days together even as the harsh winter is approaching fast and people are in need of LPG cylinders in the absence of firewood which has been stopped by the forest department. He said that people fearing stopping of LPG supply do not raise their voice against the LPG dealers and urged the government to look into the matter for their convenience. When contacted, Managerof Jagdamba Gas Agency, Kishtwar, Sunil Kumar said that the Centre had started a Direct Benefit Transfer Subsidy (DBTS) system from January 2015 all over India, adding that under DBTS, the government will deposit the subsidy on LPG directly into the bank account of the costumer. He said that under this system, the LPG service provider or the distributor has to link the LPG connection with the bank account of the costumer for smooth transfer of subsidized money into the customer's account. He said that there are two sets of procedure for availing the subsidy benefits. One with Adhar card number and in the other case, the beneficiary has to provide details of his bank account. He said that under this new system the customer will have to pay full payment of LPG cylinder and added that after that the subsidy amount will be directly credited to his account. He said that system is same and has not changed other than linking the costumer with bank account number. He said that customers can also visit Indian Oil website www.mylpg.in for tracing their LPG connection ID Number or the same could be obtained from their office. He said that due to frequent disturbance in broad band (BSNL) internet connection, the online registration of customer ID had slowed down thus causing inconvenience to the people.
He urged the people to link their LPG connection with bank account for hassle free supply of LPG cylinder in future once the new scheme starts functioning.
