"BJP is not good for Jammu region" | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 17: Prime Minister Narender Modi's speech at M A Stadium here on Tuesday is unlikely to do any good for BJP in Jammu region. In fact, it is going to cause damages to the party. Modi, the star campaigner of the party, while asking the people of the Jammu to vote for BJP, didn't speak a single word about the security of their rights. He also didn't make a mention of political empowerment of Jammu region and making them equal partner in governance. "The PM couldn't connect with the people. He didn't make mention of the suffering people had to undergo due to the recent Pak firing. He didn't talk about the abrogation of Article 370 for which Jammu is fighting and also did not touch the issue of the regional council demand for Jammu," said a senior BJP leader. These are the issues on which BJP is contesting elections and these have also given the party some political benefits, especially in 2008 assembly elections. But this time, the party avoided these basic issues and was seen appeasing the Kashmir region, where it is not expected to make any beginning. "It seems that even the PM is misled. If that is the case, it is not good for Jammu. He is supposed to have the knowledge of all these issues," the BJP leader said. It's because of this disconnect of Modi with people that Congress has trained its guns on BJP with much more aggression. The Congress could sense a victory from the jaws of the defeat as BJP has left gaping holes in its political jaws. The Congress has been going hard on that issue that BJP can't form the government and it is simply exploiting the sentiments of the people of Jammu region. The Congress is also stating that while BJP claims to be the vanguard of Jammu, the real political empowerment to the Jammu was given by it. "BJP not only overhyped its mission but it invested at wrong places and priorities. It tried to undermine the sensibility of Jammu, assuming that it could be taken for granted. But, this could prove very costly for the party," the BJP leader opined. |
