Stone pelter's arrest stirs up hornet's nest | | | Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, Dec 17: The recent arrest of a king pin of stone pelters gang at Barusa in Ganderbal district of Kashmir Valley has drawn a hornets nest with people terming it all a stage managed show. The residents of the area accused the coalition Government of providing logistic support to the stone pelter and rehabilitating him by sanctioning fat bank loans for starting business. Despite that the kingpin continued his anti social activities by harassing the people and also seeking hafta from the contractors and other businessmen. The residents of the area said that the people are sick of the ring leader who was also associated with separatists for a pretty long time and was behind the daily stone pelting in the area disrupting the movement of vehicular traffic on By Pas road to Ladakh which passes in the area. The inhabitants of the area said that people are so scared that even the Amarnath pilgrims do not show willingness to pass via this route. But instead of taking action against the separatist, the Government has given him a long rope. The separatist is also involved in PSA but the Government did not act against him and despite the PSA he was released from the jail at the instance of NC leadership after two months. The Party used him for its political interests and settle scores with its opponents. The police two days back tried to arrest the separatist when he was going to withdraw the cash from J&K Bank. However, the separatist threatened the Bank authorities that he will torch the bank and cash lying there if police arrests him inside bank. He urged the bank authorities to ask policemen to get down and arrest him after he leaves the branch and as soon as police left the branch the separatist jumped from a window and fled. Later police harassed bank employees asking them that they were hand in glove with him. Instead of cordoning the bank and foiling the attempt of separatist to flee the police harassed bank employees. Sources said that Bank authorities asked police to leave to save the building and cash and they had no malicious intension in it. |
