Delay in recruitment of Civil Defence, SDRF attributed to 'New Recruitment Policy' | PHQ constitutes Board for recruitment of 355 candidates out of 1.20 lakh aspirants | | Sumit Sharma
Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 17: Two years after applications were invited for recruitment of male constables by the Civil Defence and SDRF, the process is yet to get underway, raising a serious question mark on the working of Jammu and Kashmir Police, while resentment is brewing among the aspirants who applied for these posts. The Directorate of Civil Defence invited applications from male candidates on 25/8/2012 for raising a battalion, but though applications were invited, the recruitment process never begun. Asked about the delay, most of the senior police officers preferred silence while others attributed the delay to NC's recruitment policy. Pleading anonymity, a senior police officer in PHQ said that the new recruitment policy had affected recruitment process seriously hampering initiatives to fill up vacancies in Police department. Pertinently, according to the new policy, which was approved by the state Cabinet in 2011, new appointees for Class-III and Class-IV posts were paid fixed monthly salary equivalent to 50 per cent of the basic pay (Pay Band + Grade Pay) for the first two years. For the next three years or during the remaining period out of the total five years, the employee would be entitled to receive fixed salary of about 75 per cent of the basic pay. The policy was widely criticized as daily wagers were paid more than what a new appointee in the government service. Later, after receiving blow in the Lok Sabha elections-2014, CM realized his fault and the new recruitment policy was scrapped. The police officers further said that , it was after scrapping of the new recruitment policy, that PHQ constituted a board for recruitment , headed by DIG CID Surinder Kumar Gupta and the recruitment is expected after the conclusion of the Model Code of Conduct. The recruitment board has to select 355 out of the 1.25 lakh candidates from across the state and scrutiny of the institutions from where aspirants have attained their degrees and diplomas is in progress for authenticity. |
