| Sikh organizations term news item 'Dera Nangali Sahib support' as false, baseless | | |  Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 19: Sikh United Front (SUF) J&K alongwith various Sikh organizations today said that Shiromani Dera Nangali Sahib Poonch is a religious institution working for the upliftment of all communities in general and Sikhs in particular and it has not declared support to any political party and termed such news item baseless and frivolous. S.Avtar Singh Khalsa, General Secretary Sikh United Front (SUF) J&K flanked with other representatives of Sikh organizations while addressing a press conference here today, said, " Shriman Mahant Manjeet Singh Ji is a highly revered and respected personality and His Holiness do not indulge into any politics." "Mahant Sahib has not declared support to any political party, he said adding, " Mahant Sahib Ji has not issued any appeal of support to any political party or a candidate of any political party." He said, "All the Sikh organizations are requested to keep the sacred name of Dera Shiromani Nangali Sahib Poonch out of politics which certain elements are indulging into because of their vested interest." S.Joginder Singh Inqulabi S.Mohinder Singh, Chief Organisor Bhai Kanhiya Nishkam Sewa Society said that the Sikhs will not allow the name of Dera to be exploited for anybody's political gains and further said that in democracy people are free to exercise their franchise according to their wishes. The speakers denied that no letter of support has been issued by Mahant Sahib Ji to favour P.D.P Candidate from Gandhi Nagar Assembly Segment. "All such news are baseless and carry no weight and this type of propaganda is only befooling Sikh Sangat, they added.
