Bureaucrats, police officials hustle Muftis’ | Ahead of forming Govt | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Dec 19 : Sensing return of PDP to power, senior bureaucrats and police officials have started lining up at the residence of the Mufti Mohammad Sayeed both at Jammu and Srinagar. A very senior official who had almost handled the CM Omar Abdullah is reviving old links to get the same position if the Mufti Sayeed is on the chair of the CM. Some of the officials are also seeking an audience with the party president Mehbooba Mufti. Police officials who were pro-active during 2010 protests in the Kashmir are likely to face the music with the government formation. Mehbooba Mufti had reportedly decided to have police officials at the important posts who not only have clean and honest image but are efficient and sensitive to human rights. The most important department likely to face strict action after the government formation is the revenue and urban development ministries. There have been massive corruption and large scale grabbing of state land by the land mafia and also illegal construction in the violation of the laws which are also believed to be the one of the reason resulting in loss of property in the recent floods. The PDP government in the past, when Mufti Sayeed was the CM, had carried large scale drive against illegal construction and this will find resonance here this time. "A few honest officials have already been shortlisted and they would be appointed soon on the formation of the new government. It will be first message that the new government would like to give about its intent and intentions," said a senior officials, wishing not to be named. Some of the 'honest' police officials who were used by the previous government for its political and 'business' interests would be given key posts. According to sources, Mufti Sayeed had even dropped hints and some officials are in contact with him. |
