Ongoing 12 days Play Production Oriented Theatre Workshop at Kargil concludes | | | Early Times Report
Kargil, Dec 20: The Concluding Ceremony of the 12 Days Play Production Oriented Theatre Workshop for Amateur Artists organized under the aegis of Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, Kargil culminated today at Auditorium Hall, Kargil. The performing artists staged two plays in Balti/Purgi entitled Gyotluks by Raza Amjad Badgami and Balthodi Zungs by Muhammad Sadiq Hardassi which were produced during the workshop. The plays won thundering applauses by the audiences comprising of a jam packed hall of theatre enthusiasts including senior citizens, district officers and a large number of general public. Sujit Kumar (IPS) Senior Superintendent of Police Kargil was the chief guest while as Aga Syed Toha Assistant Director Tourism Kargil was the guest of honour. Pertinently, the workshop was conducted under the guidance of Kacho Ahmad Kha (1st National School of Drama Graduate from Kargil). Around 25 amateur young male and female aspirants from different parts of Kargil District were selected after scrutiny and audition out of the 60 applicants who applied for participation in the 12 day theatrical event.Sujit Kumar while speaking on the occasion commended the Academy for its continued quest towards the encouragement and promotion of theatre arts among the desirous artists in Kargil District. While congratulating the Academy for having organized yet another successful theatre activity this year, Sujit impressed upon the need to organize more such events in future. He admired the whole production team for showing keen enthusiasm and zest during the theatre activity which was evident from their positive performances that won a great deal of applause by the audiences. Aga Syed Toha in his speech while underlining the need of theatre as a medium towards cultural preservation, hailed the script and the scenes of the two plays staged that consisted of several elements of the glorious past of the Kargil region which has rich multiethnic ethos. Earlier welcoming the dignitaries, guests, theatre enthusiasts and the participating artists, Muhammad Ali Tak Cultural Officer Kargil while emphasizing the initiatives of the Academy towards theatre promotion and revival in Kargil said that the 12 day play production oriented theatrical event has been held as a part of the series of continued efforts conducted by the Academy with the objective to encourage theatre skills among the amateur young artists like mind development, expression skills, concentration, yoga, imagination, spontaneity, dialogue delivery, script writing, sounds and lighting besides acting skills. Tak added that the theatres glory in Kargil disrtict was at its peak especially in the decade of the 1970’s besides to popularize the age old cultural ethos and such workshops should be on priority list for imparting awareness and knowledge pertaining to the professional theatrical methods and to reform theatre’s lost glory in Kargil District.
