Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, Dec 20: With only few days left for the counting of votes in the state speculations about formation of the next government are rife. It is generally predicted that no party will be able to get 44 seats. The main competition, according to the poll pundits, is between BJP and PDP, as opinion polls have also suggested a competition between them. All eyes are on post poll alliance and the discussions are going on in streets and inside households. Post poll alliance gossips have come out of the political party offices and reached to roads. Masses are busy in discussing the voting trend. Different views are being shared on post poll alliance across the state. The only concern that has dominated the mind is will BJP become part of next government in Jammu & Kashmir or prefer to sit in opposition. There are strong speculations made that Peoples Democratic Party would choose alliance with Congress this time as it seems the only option left for the party. While as many political thinkers say that National Conference is secretly trying to go for an alliance with BJP to form the next government. "Looking at the present scenario, it seems like PDP will emerge as a single largest party followed by BJP. PDP may go for an alliance with congress as it seems to be a vital option for PDP. There can also be an alliance between BJP and National conference," said Zaheer Naqwi, a political analyst. While BJP and PDP are seen to emerge as two big parties in the elections, Congress this time is keeping its fingers crossed with its leadership trying to mitigate itself that 'state election is entirely a different entity'. The party exhibited its bad performance during the parliament polls but the state elections also don't seem to be a cake walk for it. National Conference on the other hand has again maintained its little presence on ground with almost very little poll rallies and workers' meetings during elections. Many people believe that if Congress is not able to touch double figures in the election results, than the only option left for both PDP and BJP will be National Conference. "NC may get benefit if Congress gets least number of seats; it can be a significant partner to form the next government," said Ghulam Rasool, a retired teacher. Who will form the next government and who will become a part of it will be known only after December 23? Pertinently the six year term of the present government ends on January 19, 2015. |
