| ATM slips, bank transactions SMSes likely in Hindi soon | | | Agencies
New Delhi. Dec 21: Very soon, ATM slips and messages from PSU banks on transactions could be in Hindi, if reports are to be true.
According to reports, the Ministry of Home Affairs (HMA) has proposed PSU banks to initiate the service of providing slips from ATM transactions and messages from banks in Hindi inorder to promote the language.
This comes shortly after the Finance Minister, Arun Jaitley, replied in the Lok Sabha that ATMs installed by state-owned banks will soon have the facility of providing transaction slips in Hindi.
Right now, most ATMs have bilingual options on their homescreen display but the transaction slips are available only in English.
As per the MHA, there are no facilities of working in Hindi language on any of the bank websites nor are there any facilities for using Hindi in any of the mobile banking applications.
The MHA has called on the PSU banks to provide the facilities of sending SMSes to customers and ATM transactions slips in Hindi, reports added. |
