Early Times Report

Kishtwar, Dec 21: Amidst speculations about no party would get a clear mandate on December 23, political activities in Jammu and Kashmir have picked up and main parties in the state are trying to work on the options that are likely to emerge after poll results are declared.
Sources told Early Times the BJP senior leader Ram Madhav held a "secret meeting" with the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed last evening and both leaders deliberated upon various issues.
The sources said the meeting took place at Trikuta Nagar Jammu wherein both the leaders exchanged their views on formation of next government in the state, and discussed various modalities.
The PDP patron, according to the sources, sought the support and cooperation of BJP to help JK to "come out of the mess" which the state witnessed during the past six years during the NC-Cong "misrule."
Both the leaders, according to the sources, assured each other that irrespective of who forms the next dispensation in the state both the parties would cooperate with each other.
Sources said that Congress is also sending the fillers to PDP and is interested in supporting the party after exit polls predicted that NC-Congress combine would fall short of 44 seats.
On the other hand NC is also sending fillers to BJP and has shown willingness to extend unconditional support to the party.
Sources said that one of the NC strong man and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah's close confidant has been assigned the job to strike a deal with BJP. In a fresh tweet the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah castigated the former Congress led UPA government for not conferring Bharat Ratna for former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and extended his support to BJP over this issue.
When contacted a senior BJP leader remained tightlipped over whom would party approach if it gets good number of seats. "BJP is waiting for final outcome of the counting before deciding its future course of action. We are confident of forming the government in JK on our own. We don't believe in speculations," he added.
